Last night ten brand new ‘Web and Mobile startups’ presented themselves at Rockstart accelerator’s fifth Web and Mobile Demo Day.
"The teams have grown dramatically over the last 100 days", promises program director Rutger van Waveren. "And a few are about to disrupt global marketplaces", pointing at Pipelinepharma, HealthyRoad and Surance.

Dutch Chasing Spaces is an online marketplace for flexible retail space. Shops can be rented from a day to a year. Tenants are quickly connected with space owners, resulting in direct value for landlords and a vibrant shopping street for consumers, the startup founded by Ruben Vrinzen and Hilde Boorsma promises.
Portuguese HealthyRoad develops facial biometric software for the automotive sector with the goal to alert drivers in case of dangerous driving behaviour. The technology analyses element such as drowsiness, fatigue levels, distraction and stress and is able to identify different driver’s profiles.
Dutch Otly! is a bank for kids run by parents. Replacing outdated piggy banks with digital banking at an early age. Within a safe financial eco-system, kids are for example able to purchase digital gift cards for platforms such as iTunes.
Playtest is a Dutch startup that gets game players to test a game before it’s finished. Developers therewith receive valuable feedback that may turn gamers into fans. “We are talking with one of the biggest game publishers in the world”, says founder Bart van den Berg.
UK-based Pipelinepharma is a B2B marketplace for the generic pharmaceutical industry, aiming to reduce the amount of time pharmaceutical executives spend searching for products and negotiations agreements. The technology is based on an industry-specific search engine. Over $12M in international deals from India to the US have already been negotiated on the platform.
Dutch startup Surance wants to make investing and financial planning easy, honest and with wealth management tools that send notifications to keep users up to date and in control of their financial planning and goals.
Also Dutch Teletext.io offers a new way of content management, addable to any website by a java script client and tagging system. After that, you don’t have to bother developers for text changes anymore, the company says.
TIQ, also from the Netherlands and founded by Nick Schils, automates time-sheets, because research has shown that workers are bad at this, and it costs billions a day. TIQ analyses the tools you use to get your work done and creates an overview of activities that can be validated in less than a minute per day, helping to get things done faster.
Whatagraph from Lithuania changes website and social analytics with automatically converted and customised infographic reports. The company wants to help marketing agencies and website owners in saving time by allowing to get a quick overview of their web and social performance.
Irish WordKik sees many parents struggling to get their children off the internet. That’s why they created a parental control app which helps them to manage their children’s devices from any smartphone or tablet. With an app parents can get insights in what their children are doing and protect them from inappropriate content at the same time.
