Flex-Appeal, the Utrecht-based shift exchanging startup for part-timers, officially launched February 1. Now the company announced a 185.000 euro investment done in ‘early 2016’ by an informal investor.
Also, Bernd Damme (co-founder of the late Pelliano, and CEO of House of Eléonore) was added to the advisory board.
Flex-Appeal was founded by the three young entrepreneurs Ruben Wieman (20), Vincent de Wit (21) and Guido Schmitz (20). They found that communication between part-timers was done poorly and can be quite frustrating.
In the case of millennials, and specific students who have a part-time job, flexibility is key when working next to going to college. With Flex-Appeal, every part-timer can see their schedule and switch shifts in one place, as well as communicate with each other in specific group chats.
Launching partner
After a pilot with two hundred employees of the Goedhart franchise, Flex-Appeal now partners with Randstad Hospitality. All seven hundred part-timers at the Amsterdam ArenA who work there, will use the app to communicate with each other.
Flex-Appeal prior won ING’s entrepreneur challenge Jumpstart in 2014, and attended the Get Started programme of the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship Rotterdam. The team consists of eight people now.
