Holland Venture, one of the oldest growth investment funds in The Netherlands, just announced a new fund for investing in early stage technology startups.
Last week Holland Venture announced the Holland Venture Technology Fund (HVTF), their eighth investment fund. The new fund management hopes to make about ten investments in technology startups next year.
Themes
The fund has selected six broad themes to indicate what types of companies they would like to invest in:
- Mobile
- Software and cloud
- Internet of Things
- Big data
- Cybersecurity,
- Automation of knowledge work
“We have always been investing in growth, in both healthcare and technology markets, and with this fund we hope to make early stage investments in promising companies. Our aim is to also add value to the companies: we are actively helping the companies with their strategy for growth, HR, marketing, legal and finance” said fund manager Niels van Aalten.
Mentors
For this fund, Holland Venture has collected a group of involved mentors, including Cees Links, founder of chipmaker Greenpeak, Ronald Prins en Menno van de Marel (founders of IT security firm Fox-IT) and Marc Duijndam (formerly google and linkedin, now CEO Funda). “We want to help technology startups grow. One example would be startups interested in expanding internationally, or startups that want to raise funds from US investors. For US investors it is more attractive to invest in a far away startup if there is a local hands-on investor with a proven track record helping the startup.” according to Niels van Aalten. Holland Venture is open for investment proposals from startups that match one of the six themes. “I’m looking forward to announcing our first investment soon”.
