Dutch-origined Car sharing company SnappCar has acquired Swedish competitor FlexiDrive to “strengthen its position” in Scandinavia, the company announced today.

“Stockholm ranks high on our expansion list. In these urban areas, car-possession is relatively low and people are open-minded and very advanced in mobility. They acknowledge the advantages of car sharing for themselves in a practical way, but also for society”, says SnappCar co-founder Victor van Tol.

The acquisition constitutes an important step in accomplishing the company’s goal to conquer Europe. FlexiDrive is Swedish market leader with more than 10.000 members. “The SnappCar community now consists of more than 150.000 Dutch, Danish, German and Swedisch consumers, sharing more than 20.000 cars”, says SnappCar.

Founded in 2011 by Victor van Tol (40) and Pascal Ontijd (34), SnappCar has, according to the company, become a top 3 player worldwide. Last April, the company acquired the Danish p2p car sharing platform Minbildinbil.dk.
