Amsterdam-based designer fashion resale platform The Next Closet secured an investment of 1 million euro from online publisher Wayne Parker Kent, as well as Belgian business angel Maarten Beucker Andreae.

The startup hopes to further expand with the investment.

Wayne Parker Kent is publisher of online magazines such as NSMBL, Beautify and Famme. “We reach about 10 million Dutch people, amongst which 6 million women”, ceo Slaven Mandic says about the investment. The Next Closet is very relevant to our audience.”

Fashion-lovers can sell and buy pre-owned designer clothes via The Next Closet, founded in 2013 by Lieke Pijpers and Thalita van Ogtrop.

“A lot of women welcome beautiful designer pieces into their wardrobes often”, the founders state on their business. “We figured there must be a way to resell items by actually browsing through another woman’s wardrobe.”
