According to our quarterly overview, 28 Dutch startups have raised more than 101 million euro (EUR101.1m) in Q2 this year. Compared to the first quarter this year (83.7 million euro), we saw a smaller amount of deals, but for a larger total sum. Shapeways raised the largest amount of funding: 27.2 million euro.

Dutch startups have raised more funding in Q2 2015 than in Q1. In total more than 97 million euro was raised with 28 deals, compared to 83 million with 33 deals in the earlier quarter of 2015.

Only two quarters in we feel it’s too soon to conclude there’s a specific investment trend of ‘less deals, bigger deal size’. Especially because of a larger amount of later stage deals (which of course means more money), compared to the quarter before (3 vs. 5).

Largest deal in 2015

While the average investment was larger in Q2 the median investment with 800.000 euro was lower than last quarter’s 1 million euro.

There were three rounds of funding exceeding 10 million euro: Shapeways (27.2 million euro), HackerOne (22.7 million euro) and TravelBird (16.5 million euro). So far, the series D funding round for Shapeways is the largest deal for a Dutch startup this year.

Below is the full table of all deals, with links to source where available. When the amount of funding is undisclosed or unknown, we have made an educated guess.

Notes:

  • We’re aware that not all deals are being published or communicated (sometimes for obvious reasons). Therefore it’s almost impossible to get the list complete. The data we did get however gives you a good impression. If we missed something, let us know.
  • Honourable mention: Live On Demand received an undisclosed amount from Eric Ries.
  • Everything below 50.000 euro was neglected as ‘funding’. Some Leapfunder campaigns (convertible notes) raised such amounts of money.
  • Some strategic investments / partnerships we couldn’t take a realistic guess at: Roamler (from Smollan) and Peeeks (from Eneco).
